On July 7, 2009 the Santa Clarita Planning Commission approved a 137,000 square Sheraton Hotel and conference center. The staff planner presenting the proposal to the Planning Commission highlighted the challenges faced by the architect in creating a design that met the design guidelines of the Planning Department and that was befitting the Town Center location. The site is bisected by a LA County flood control storm drain and a earthquake fault leaving less than 25% of the site suitable to build. The planner acknowledged the design provides a very effective pedestrian and vehicular circulation serving the various uses within the the project site. The contemporary designed building will have 200 guest rooms along with a 120 seat restaurant and approximately 8,000 square feet of banquet and conference facility. The seventh floor has a Club Lounge that provides sweeping views of the Santa Clarita valley.
